101 has been at the forefront of the development of “Community Equity” as a solution to complex - often historical - problems in agricultural supply chains, such as ‘plantation’ ownership. We address and defuse issues of historic land injustice and workers’ rights.

We build an intimate understanding of key challenges, then build practical and profitable solutions. We bring capital and world-class expertise. We understand the expectations of today’s consumers, customers and wider stakeholders. We build trusted supply chains that work for global consumers and local communities.

Together with local community stakeholders in Kericho (Kenya), 101 developed a model to acquire and operate tea plantations located on community land. The land had been forcibly seized from the local indigenous community between 1902-1963 and leased to European settlers. The historic injustice suffered by the local community has been unresolved for decades.
